Accomplishments & Progress in 2001
SSE inside corner.  There are big gaps and holes all the way through the wall.
Same view but with repairs in progress.
Jared Turley (Richard & Susie's son) repairing / replacing bricks on the inside of the JBHome the east wall of the SE corner.  Note: The exterior walls are about 16" thick.  The outside course is of hand-made brick but the inside two courses are of adobe.  The plaster is 3 layers thick.  1st is of mud and 1/2" to 3/4" thick.  The 2nd is a sand & lime plaster and the 3rd is a very thin and smooth lime plaster.
Jared Turley (Richard & Susie Turley's son) helping to prepare for fixing the bricks on the ESE corner of the JBHome.  We dug down to below the top of the foundation, which is a few layers of big stones.  Note all of the bricks that need to be replaced.
J.C. (Virgil & Kari Bushman's son) cutting out the rotten floor joists in the SE room of the JBHome.  This had been the bathroom.  Old water & sewer pipes were then removed.
Bob Turley preparing brick for replacement and clearing old mortar joints.  Bob spent a few weeks working on bricks on the JBHome with me.  His brother Jay also spent some time helping us with the "tuckpointing" of mortar joints.
Susie Turley "harvesting" good bricks from the lean-to kitchen area for use in repairing lost bricks on the main house.  This entire kitchen area will be rebuilt later.
Note where several broken or spalled bricks have been removed in preparation for replacement.
