This picture was taken in 1943 and says "New Store Room & Cellar". This Store Room was also used as the new "Milk House". Note the fairly good condition of the main chimneys. This photo will be used in part to help with making sure the chimneys are rebuilt like the originals. Also, note the chimney and smokestack over the old kitchen area. This is no longer there... but again, this photo will be used to help re-create a kitchen chimney like the original. Note that there was no southeast window in the old wooden house... but it as added later. |
Another great picture, I believe taken in 1949. The Kitchen chimney is gone. Good depiction of the original, main chimneys. Zelda says the oil drums held the oil that were used in the heating stoves in the dining area and in Jese & Elva's bedroom. You can also notice a downspout coming down the east wall just south of the bedroom windows. The Locust tree to the east of the main house was removed in 2001 as it had been dead for many years and was unsafe. |
